|Shreveport fire battles industrial building fire|

On Saturday, Shreveport Firefighters were called to the 700 block of North Market at Shaw Alloy Piping for a possible industrial building fire. At 6:43 a.m., Shreveport fire got a call from workers at the facility. Thirteen fire units and 31 firefighters responded to the emergency. Firefighters say when they arrived, they saw smoke showing from a vent stack on top of the building.

The Lafayette Fire Department responded around 8:30 this morning to a house fire in the 100 block of St. Charles St. Emergency dispatchers received a call from a neighbor indicated heavy smoke coming from the home. Firefighters arrived at the home within five minutes, where flames were coming from the front door and windows.

Authorities are on the scene of a trailer fire in Vidalia that killed a person, according to the Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal Friday morning. The Baker City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to introduce an ordinance that would create a fire prevention bureau. According to records, LDAF firefighters battled and suppressed 1,638 wildfires in 2008.
