Sparks Fire Department: Pancake breakfast, station tours mark Fire Prevention Month

Several events are planned for the public this weekend and next at area fire stations as part of Fire Prevention Month. The Sparks Fire Department hosts its 30th annual pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon Oct. 12 at station No. 1, 1605 Victorian Ave. The menu consists of pancakes, ham, eggs, juice, milk, and coffee.

Reno Fire Department receives self defense training

Pershing County leaders may reorganize emergency services

Pershing County emergency services leaders sounded the alarm last week due to a decline in volunteers responding to emergency calls. A few of the older volunteers, retired from daytime jobs, respond to most of the daytime calls according to Lovelock Fire Chief Rodney Wilox. Many of the Lovelock Volunteer Fire Department’s younger members have out-of-town jobs, or even in-town jobs, that make it difficult for them to respond as needed to medical and fire emergencies, Wilcox said.

VIDEO: A day after fire claimed the lives of a mother and child, a Las Vegas man is left grieving and seeking answers. Las Vegas Fire & Rescue responded about 8:20 a.m. Tuesday to reports of light smoke coming from a large two-story home at 1930 Fox Canyon Circle, the fire department reported. Arriving firefighters discovered light smoke on the second floor inside a bedroom and found an adult female and small child upstairs in the smoke-filled room.

Fire Prevention Week underway in Reno

Open burning season for the East Fork Fire Protection District starts Saturday

The fall 2019 seasonal open burning period for the East Fork Fire Protection District will begin on Saturday and continue through Dec. 15. A woman and small child are in “very critical” condition, suffering from severe burns, and a man is in serious condition due to smoke inhalation. House Complete Loss After Fire Near Dori Way in Carson City

Fire at east Las Vegas home burns two cars

Henderson Fire chief speaks out about mental health awareness after firefighter takes his life

Officials investigating cause of shed fire in Sparks

PHOTO: The Sparks Fire Department responded to a call about a shed fire on Thursday, October 3, 2019 on Probasco Way and Prater Way in Sparks. Firefighters received the call at 8:15 p.m. and quickly knocked the fire down. There are road closures on Westbound Prater Way. Crews said there was no damage to the surrounding buildings, however there was damage to electrical wires near the shed.

Kitchen closed after fire at Bally’s on Las Vegas Strip

A fire was reported at Bally's this morning, but it was out by the time firefighters arrived, according the Clark County Fire Department. The fire was reported about 11:10 a.m. at the Strip resort. Quarter-acre brush fire in Washoe Valley knocked down, minor damage to 2 buildings

Carson City Fire Department and Truckee Meadows Fire responded Wednesday afternoon to a brush fire in the area of Pintail Way and Drake Way in Washoe Valley. The fire was reported to Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center at 12:53 p.m. The fire is said to be a brush fire that is threatening structures.
