Las Vegas Fire and Rescue are investigating a fire near Washington Avenue and H Street. According to a tweet by the agency, the fire is in a vacant 1-story home located at 910 W. Washington Avenue. When firefighters arrived at the scene, in addition to the roof, massive flames could be seen showing from the side of the house.

The Clark County Fire Department responded to a mobile home fire just before 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 13, in the 3600 block of Boulder Highway. On arrival, firefighters reported the mobile home was fully involved with smoke and flame. Personnel made an offensive attack and managed to knock the fire down just before 1:10 p.

The Carson City Fire Department has released more details on a structure fire they responded to on Tuesday afternoon. They said it happened at the St. Charles Residential Hotel on South Carson Street around 12:16 p.m. When they arrived, firefighters saw smoke coming from the second floor of the hotel.

Crews have knocked down a fire that sparked Wednesday morning at a Summerlin home, according to Las Vegas fire officials. Firefighters responded to a two-story home on Waterfield Court, near Rampart Boulevard and Summerlin Parkway, on a report of a cabana on fire, said Las Vegas Fire & Rescue. Fire was both inside the room, outside the house and inside the attic, according to Fire & Rescue, and a second alarm was requested.

Two separate fires could be seen near the intersection of Bruce Street and Washington Avenue, including one fire in a garbage container. Six months before the Oct. 1, 2017, shooting on the Las Vegas Strip that killed 58 and left hundreds injured, Clark County Fire Department Chief Greg Cassell testified before state legislators in favor of a bill that would have required more coordination of emergency medical resources ahead of such a large event.

The Reno Fire Department is investigating a fire that ripped through a home on Thoma Street in Midtown. It started just after 10:00 p.m. Sunday, February 10, 2019. When firefighters got there, they saw flames and smoke coming from the back of the home. Firefighters say a man and his dog got out safely, but a cat remains missing as of Monday morning.

The Federal Reserve recently examined Nevada’s pension system. The results are sobering. It found that Nevada’s Public Employees’ Retirement System had an unfunded liability of $43.3 billion in 2016. For context, Gov. Steve Sisolak’s proposed two-year general fund budget is $9 billion. PERS’ funding ratio, which compares assets with liabilities, was only 45.

Traffic deaths in Clark County were up slightly last month compared to a year ago, according to new data released by state officials. The county saw 17 fatalities for the month of January 2019, up from 15 over the same month in 2018. Of those deaths, seven people were in cars, four were pedestrians, three were motorcyclists and three were bicyclists.

A “suspicious” fire that sparked at an apartment in south Reno left one person with minor injuries and displaced residents from eight other units, according to the Reno Fire Department. The fire was reported just after 11 a.m. at the Meadowood Condominiums on Delucchi Lane. Four units were damaged in the fire, Fire Chief David Cochran said.

A Las Vegas Fire & Rescue firefighter was named the City of Las Vegas’ Employee of the Year for 2018 on Thursday, Jan. 31, at the City Hall. Matt Driscoll was given the honor for his work in developing a training program for sex trafficking awareness, according to the City of Las Vegas website. The program earned Matt an Employee of the Month award for March, the month he developed the training program.

An early morning fire did about $150,000 in damage to an east valley house, but the sole occupant escaped without injury, according to the Clark County Fire Department. A worker who fell into the Paris balloon marquee on the Las Vegas Strip had to be rescued by the Clark County Fire Deparment Thursday. The fall was reported around 12:42 p.m. The worker fell about 10 feet through an opening in scaffolding. "It wasn't t too challenging of a rescue once we had our game plan but it was a confined area where the gentleman was so it was kind of tough to get to and get our equipment in but once we were able to do that we got him out fairly quickly," said Capt.
