|Fourth East Fork advanced life support ambulance put in service in Indian Hills|

A fourth advanced life support ambulance was put into service on Sunday, according to the East Fork Fire Protection District. The fully staffed rescue ambulance will be stationed at Fire Station 12, located on North Sunridge Drive in Indian Hills. Station 12 serves one of the district’s largest response areas, including, Indian Hills, Alpine View, Clear Creek, Sunridge, and a significant part of the Johnson Lane area, Chief Tod Carlini said “The district monitors its resources and response data on a regular basis to determine where to locate its staffed resources,” he said.

|Nevada firefighters continue to assist in Australia|

Four BLM firefighters have returned from Australia after assisting with the fire suppression efforts there. Firefighters Brian Holmes, Eric Tilden and Joe Miller and Justin Cutler returned this month. The BLM has also sent two more firefighters over to Australia and plans to send three more in the coming weeks bringing the total amount of firefighters sent to assist to 11.

|Nevada Air National Guard considered for C-130 fleet replacement|

An Air National Guard base in Nevada has proposed replacing its 25-year-old fleet of big turboprop planes that can carry troops or cargo with newer aircraft that are better for their firefighting capabilities. The Nevada Air National Guard Base in Reno has proposed replacing its eight C-130H aircraft with the newer C-130J model, KTVN-TV reported Friday.

A woman has been arrested in connection to a fire at the Excalibur Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Investigators say Aviaon Lee is an employee at the hotel. She is accused by police of making up a story that she was sexually assaulted and left in a burning room by an unknown suspect, with the hopes of making money from the incident.

VIDEO: An investigation is underway at the Autumn Village housing complex on Gentry Way near Virginia Street after fire crews found materials burning inside one of the units. The call came in just before 9 a.m. Tuesday, February 18, 2020. The Reno Fire Department says when they arrived, the resident in the unit where smoke was coming from would not let crews in to investigate.

|Boulder City Fire Department receives new fire engine|

The new fire engine arrived Thursday, February 13 at the Boulder City Fire Department. The engine is in need of some additional items; it was sent to a vendor in Las Vegas to have the radios and other electronics installed. Later this month, it will go to the City shops for a few more needed installations.

They're creating on a new mandatory program for property owners that would take a more proactive approach to fire inspections. The cause of a Tuesday evening brush fire about 100 yards southeast of Silver City RV Park is under investigation. First reported around 5 p.m., motorists on Highway 395 could see smoke and flames from the fire, which grew to about a third of an acre. East Fork Battalion Chief Troy Valenzuela said the fire was burning in heavy sage and was spreading slowly.

The Sparks Fire Department says crews responded to an abandoned car that was set on fire on Wednesday. Officials said it was in a ditch filled with water near the Wildcreek Golf Course. They said the car was flipped over on its roof and it did not have plates. The Sparks Fire Department said the Washoe County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) is taking over the investigation.

Criminal investigators have seized a cellphone that belongs to an owner of the Alpine Motel Apartments, the site of a December fire that left six dead. According to a Wednesday court filing, a search warrant issued Jan. 29 approved a search and seizure of the phone at the law office of Dominic Gentile, a criminal defense attorney who is representing the owner, Adolfo Orozco.
